Stealing from jjpor and lost_spook because I can!

Ask me a question about one of my fics. It can be absolutely anything in any project and I will answer it the best I can -- even on current progress/plans.

If you'd prefer, you can also ask about my writing for a particular fandom, my writing as a whole, etc.

Keep in mind that my writing hasn't happened in a couple of years though :P
(Fics can be found on Teaspoon, AO3, and FF.net

So, I know you haven't had much opportunity or mojo with the writing lately, but do you still have any plans? Even if it's only WIPs you still think about, lurking bunnies, or itches you haven't had the chance to scratch? (Do you still think there should be more Batman/Catwoman gratuitous petting? ;-p)

Who doesn't??

Ha, yes. I have plans all the time! I had like, 3 or 4 different bunnies lurking at me when my time went kaput (and then my ability to get into media went kaput and with it my mojo :( )

Also, I agree with Delphi. There should ALWAYS be more Batman/Catwoman gratuitous petting. I think at least one of the bunnies included that. ;)

Aw, well, here's to some time and mojo coming back to you! ♥

Who knew doing a PhD could take so much time?! ... lol. But no, it's definitely... it's a mindset, I don't think it's really the PhDs fault. Maybe I need to just sign up for some fests just to get going again... but then, that's what I tried to do when I got that lovely bingocard and I never wrote a word. :|

Aww, well, you could still try again? It's a whole 'nother year, anyway, and as long as you choose a prompt or a bingo or a straight-forward fest and nothing like an exchange, it's not as if it's going to cause anyone any problems if it doesn't work out! Or you could root through some ancient prompt comms and steal a brief table or something. (There are loads of those! I have a list somewhere...)

I should! Shall it be my New Year's Resolution? It's only mid-February, it's still legit to make those :D

Yes! You could even write a New Year's Resolution for your new year's resolution. (Got to be something in a thousand or so leftover Yule-prompts, right?)

Here's one: do you think that in fanfiction (given it's for fun and all) it's better to write about your favourite characters/fandoms/situations, or do you think it's better sometimes to challenge yourself by going outside your comfort zone? If the latter, do you have any examples of when you have done this?

I don't know if better is the right word for me, because they're both worthy! At least for myself, if I look at my favourite characters, they tend to be the main characters of the canon, so it's an exercise in taking everything into account, having a good basis for the character voice and motivation etc. Challenging yourself is always good though, keeps you on your toes ;) It's so easy to fall into patterns, isn't it? Like, that's one of the problems when I write my favourite characters - well, I definitely have a type of character that tends to become my favourite, and I'm aware of that, so even if I write about my favourite characters in different canons... there tend to be patterns there.
That's one of the reasons that when I'm inspired enough in a fandom and feel confident enough about it, I love doing exchange fests, because being given someone else's prompt - and knowing that I'm writing it for them and not for myself - really can kick me out of a pattern because hey, what they like isn't necessarily what I would write without the prompt. The best example I can think about that is a Harry Potter fanfic I've written a while back called Saturdays are for Football, where the request was on two characters I've never written before as main protagonists. It definitely ended up having themes I've worked with before (see? so easy to fall into patterns!) but just from my grasp on the characters, it was a challenge, and I'm quite happy with the result so yay \0/ :)
